Tohoku Food Marathon 2026 – Scheduled for April 19, 2026! Registration Opens Today

The Tohoku Food Marathon 2026 will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Naganuma Futopia Park in Tome City, Miyagi Prefecture. Runner registration opens today in Japanese and in English, September 19, 2025, at noon (JST) on the official website:

Launched in 2014 to support recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake, the marathon carries the mission of “connecting Tohoku with the world through running.” Despite the pandemic, which forced the 2020 race to be postponed and the 2022 race to go online, the event has continued without interruption. Over 11 editions, it has welcomed more than 32,000 runners and 245,000 visitors from across Japan and abroad.

In 2026, marking 15 years since the earthquake, the marathon will feature special programs under the theme “Tohoku, 15 Years After the Earthquake (tentative).”
